The sexual exploitation and abuse of children and adolescents is a crime in Colombia, punishable by imprisonment under Colombian criminal law (Ley 599 de 2000, Articles 213–219B). The Good Traveler Colombia has zero tolerance for any form of exploitation involving minors.
1. Our Commitment
EL BUEN VIAJERO TRAVEL AGENCY SAS (RNT 210035) is committed to the prevention and eradication of the Sexual Commercial Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESCNNA, by its Spanish acronym) in all activities related to travel and tourism, in compliance with Colombian Law 679 of 2001, Law 1336 of 2009, and Resolution 3840 of 2009 issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.
This Code of Conduct applies to the founder, all employees, contractors, suppliers, guides, drivers, and any person or entity acting on behalf of The Good Traveler Colombia.
2. Code of Conduct
In accordance with Resolution 3840 of 2009, The Good Traveler Colombia adopts the following minimum measures:
We will never offer, in our tourism promotion programs or travel plans, expressly or covertly, plans that include the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
We will never provide information to tourists, directly or through third parties, about places where the sexual exploitation of minors is coordinated or practiced.
We will never direct tourists, directly or through third parties, to establishments or places where sexual exploitation of minors is practiced, nor will we direct minors to places where tourists are staying for such purposes.
We will never facilitate vehicles on tourist routes for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse of minors.
We will prevent the entry of minors to lodging establishments, bars, and similar establishments with purposes of sexual exploitation or abuse.
We will take measures to prevent any person associated with our company from offering tourism services that facilitate sexual activity with minors.
We will report to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and other competent authorities any facts of which we become aware, by any means, regarding the sexual exploitation of minors, and we will maintain internal channels for such reports.
We will design and disseminate internally and with our suppliers a policy that establishes measures to prevent and counteract all forms of exploitation of minors in travel and tourism.
We will train all personnel associated with our operations on the prevention of ESCNNA.
We will inform our clients and users about the legal consequences of sexual exploitation of minors in Colombia.
3. Legal Consequences in Colombia
Under Colombian law, the following acts constitute crimes punishable by imprisonment:
Organizing, facilitating, or participating in any form of commercial sexual exploitation of persons under 18 years of age (proxenetismo con menor de edad).
Destining homes or commercial establishments for sexual practices involving minors.
Soliciting sexual relations with minors in exchange for payment.
Tourism activities that promote, facilitate, or involve the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
Possession, production, or distribution of child sexual abuse material.
These crimes carry sentences ranging from 14 to 25 years of imprisonment under Colombian criminal law.
